Jessica Harms Biography
Born in Phoenix Arizona, Jessica was surrounded by an artistic family all of her life. The second-youngest of six siblings, Jessica always had to find a way to stand out. Even at a young age she found that she had a passion for creating art and admiring the work of others. Her family and friends persuaded her to keep creating artwork throughout her high school years, and after realizing her true appreciation for art Jessica spent more and more of her free time painting. She also began teaching art classes at Ocee Arts Center in Duluth, Georgia in the summer of 2002.
As self-trained artist, Jessica decided to take her first formal visual arts classes at the University of Georgia. From her experiences educating the young children in her community she decided to combine her love for art and teaching. Jessica obtained her BFA in Art Education in December of 2006 while being a magna cum laude graduate and a Presidential Scholar. She was also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and a W. Robert Nix Art Education Scholarship winner.
Since her graduation Jessica has kept creating artwork and is currently teaching classes at Ocee Arts Center in Duluth, Georgia. She will also be teaching at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic School in fall of 2007. Jessica will continue to explore where her paintings take her with her dream to one day travel the world and create paintings of the amazing places she visits. Until then she will remain persistent in her passion for educating her community about the beauty of art.
